A short film on how Papua New Guinea monitors its primary forest, made for CNN and the Japan International Cooperation Agency. Marc Dozier and Pierre Petit filmed it.
Papua New Guinea holds one of the largest areas of tropical rainforest left in the world. Knowing how much of it remains, and how fast it changes, is the work of forest monitoring: field measurements, satellite images and, more and more, drones.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has worked with the PNG Forest Authority on forest information and climate change, and has published guidance on the use of drones in forest management. This short film, made for CNN and JICA, shows that work in the field.
Our part
This time we were behind the camera: Marc Dozier and Pierre Petit filmed the short, from the forest plots to the drone flights above logging areas.
